WILLEMSTAD - Out of the fifteen candidates who applied for the vacant positions within the Electoral Council (KSE), only six have been deemed suitable after an evaluation. The remaining candidates do not qualify, as indicated in a publication by the Government Council Advisor SBTNO, which provides advice on government appointments.
The Electoral Council is the central electoral bureau for the Curaçao Parliament elections. In Curaçao, the Electoral Council acts as an independent advisory body on electoral matters and the organization of elections.
Letter
In September, the advisory council received a letter from the appointment committee for the Electoral Council. In this letter, the committee emphasized the importance of giving everyone equal opportunities so that the most suitable candidates can be nominated for the Electoral Council.
During the evaluation process, candidates were assessed for their professionalism. The conclusion was that the three candidates currently serving as temporary members best fit the established profile.
In total, fifteen candidates were evaluated. Out of them, six were considered suitable, while the remaining nine were rejected either due to low scores, a mediocre assessment, late application, or not being Dutch citizens.
The committee also noted that in a small community like Curaçao, there are not many highly educated, non-political candidates available for positions in the Main Electoral Office.
The Electoral Council has not yet been able to nominate a chairman but suggests appointing Anthmar Kranwinkel as deputy chairman to ensure continuity.
Given that the terms of the current members expire this month, the appointment committee also recommends appointing Gisah Hollander and Liselle Pas to maintain the quality, experience, and professionalism within the Main Electoral Office.
