Elderly Couple Rescued by Coast Guard Helicopter After Bee Attack in Christoffel Park

WILLEMSTAD – On Sunday morning, May 18, the Maritime Operations Center of the Coast Guard received an urgent request for assistance from the Curaçao Police Force following a bee attack in Christoffel Park. 

A local couple, both around 70 years old, was attacked by a swarm of bees while hiking in the park. The situation became critical when it was discovered that the man is allergic to bee stings, requiring immediate medical intervention. 

The Coast Guard helicopter was swiftly dispatched to locate and evacuate the couple. The aerial rescue was carried out successfully, and the couple was airlifted to Hato, where an ambulance was waiting to transfer them to the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) for further treatment. 

Thanks to the rapid response of the Coast Guard and emergency services, the couple received the urgent care they needed. Authorities have not yet provided further details on their condition but confirmed that both were safely rescued and are receiving medical attention.
