Eight Venezuelans request help from Dutch MPs

WILLEMSTAD - Eight Venezuelans who have applied for asylum have been detained in the Curaçao prison (SDKK) for more than 8 months. Some even among convicted criminals.

The eight made a cry for help to the Justice Department and the Dutch Members of Parliament who are visiting the prison today. They are on the island because of the Interparliamentary Consultation, the IPKO.

According to the Curaçao law, foreign nationals may be detained for a maximum of six months. After that they must be either deported or receive asylum.
