WILLEMSTAD – Minister of Education Sithree ‘Cey’ van Heydoorn (MFK) has voiced criticism over the enrollment policy of Radulphus College (RC), following the release of a public admissions schedule that he claims prioritizes so-called elite schools.
Van Heydoorn expressed his disagreement with the schedule and stated that he had sent a formal letter to the Roman Catholic School Board (RKCS), which oversees Radulphus College, to express his concerns.
In response, the school released a statement via social media, but the minister has deemed the explanation insufficient.
Van Heydoorn has also reached out to Father Curtis Meris to convey his dissatisfaction directly to the diocese. For now, the minister is giving the school board time to provide a more comprehensive response before entering into discussions with RKCS director Royla Paula-Pierre.
The matter has sparked renewed debate about accessibility and transparency in the island’s education system, particularly with regard to perceptions of inequality between schools. Minister Van Heydoorn has not ruled out further action pending the school board’s formal reply.
