WILLEMSTAD – The Ministry of Economic Development’s (MEO) inspection team has resumed visible street activity, conducting extra checks during the Easter week. The focus of the increased surveillance was to ensure compliance with economic permits and price display regulations across various beaches and shopping areas.
At Playa Santa Cruz in Banda Bou, one business owner was forced to halt operations due to the lack of an economic permit and failure to display prices clearly, as required by law. In the Jandoret area, another business was addressed for not adhering to the regulations concerning price display and the requirements for the "makutu básiko" (basic basket).
However, no violations were found in other popular areas, such as Playa Jan Thiel, Caracasbaai, Cas Abou, and Porto Marie. During a second check at Piskadera, a previously inspected business (Breeze Adventures / Blue Fin) was found to be in compliance.
The inspections were conducted as part of "Operashon Siman Santu," in collaboration with the Barber police. The MEO emphasized that despite previous warnings, some business owners continue to operate without proper permits or fail to display prices in public spaces.
