Economic Inspection Shuts Down Six Businesses During Night Operations Across Curaçao

 

WILLEMSTAD - The Economic Inspection Unit carried out late-night inspections on November 7, 8, and 9 in several districts across the island, including Souax, Daniël, Kanga, Santa Maria, Ronde Klip, Kent-U-Zelf, Sta. Rosa, and Brievengat. The operation resulted in two businesses receiving official warnings and six establishments being ordered to cease operations immediately.

A bread stand in Souax received a warning after inspectors found that its location permit had expired and seating had been added without authorization. The operators were given five working days to apply for a new permit. The Pink Iguanalocated at Daniël 30B, was also warned for operating without the required permits. Six o

ther businesses were forced to close following violations. At Bentana di Mama in Kanga, part of a residential property had been illegally converted into a store. Pay Less Minimarket on F.D. Rooseveltweg was found open after permitted hours, allowing customers to shop and consume food on the premises.

At La Bendición de L&R in Ronde Klip, inspectors discovered that the business was operating without any economic licenses. Tachi’s Bar & Lunch Place in Kent-U-Zelf was ordered to close due to the absence of a restaurant and bar permit and for playing loud music.

La Villa Minimarket on Sta. Rosaweg was shut down for operating past closing hours, incomplete price labeling, and serving food and drinks both inside and outside, effectively functioning as a restaurant without the proper license. Similarly, New Toko San Pedro on Kaya Andruw Jones was found open after hours, lacking the required economic permit, and playing loud music through speakers.

The Economic Inspection emphasized that these controls are part of ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with business licensing laws, fair trade practices, and public orderAdditional inspections are expected to continue in the coming weeks.
