WILLEMSTAD - The Inspection Department of the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO) carried out routine checks on four businesses this past weekend, focusing on whether establishments possessed the required permits to operate legally. Of the four locations inspected, three received official warnings and one business was immediately shut down for lacking the proper documentation.
Pitstop Bar Café, located on Kaya Andrew Jones, was ordered to close its doors on the spot after failing to provide a valid economic permit. Inspectors say the closure was necessary due to the complete absence of required operating documents.
Three Establishments Issued Warnings
MEO reports the following violations:
Tronco e’ Filo – Kaya Andrew Jones 33
Warning issued: Operating without a business establishment permit.
Lan Kwai Fong Bar Restaurant – Kanga 47C
Warning issued: Playing excessively loud music, violating noise regulations.
Hong Yuan Bar Restaurant – Kanga 47-I-1
Warning issued: Loud music and placing external speakers outside the premises, both in violation of noise and public nuisance rules.
More Inspections Expected
The ministry states that these inspections are part of ongoing routine enforcement activities. Controls will continue in the coming days as authorities work to ensure compliance with economic and environmental regulations across the island.
MEO encourages all businesses to verify that they have the correct permits and to comply with noise ordinances to avoid penalties, closures, or further enforcement actions.
