WILLEMSTAD – The woman who died in a traffic accident on the evening of Tuesday, April 30, on the Weg naar Westpunt has been officially identified as Maria Gerarda van Osta, police confirmed. She was born on August 17, 1990, in the Netherlands. 

The fatal crash occurred near Landhuis Daniel, where a vehicle collided with a divi-divi tree. Van Osta was seated in the front passenger seat and showed no signs of life when emergency responders arrived. A doctor at the scene later confirmed her death. 

The driver and a minor passenger were injured and transported to Curaçao Medical Center. The Traffic Department of the police is still investigating the cause of the crash. According to preliminary information, the driver lost control of the vehicle for reasons that are not yet clear. 

Maria van Osta is the fifth person to die in a traffic accident on Curaçao this year.
