THE HAGUE – Prime Minister Dick Schoof will visit the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands from May 9 to 14, during which he will meet with the governors, prime ministers, and members of parliament of Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten, as well as the island governors and island councils of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba.
The visit will begin on Bonaire, where Schoof, in addition to official meetings, will explore the island’s history and natural environment. On May 10, he will travel to Aruba, where he will visit the Horacio Oduber Hospital and the Korrektie Instituut Aruba.
On May 11, the prime minister will head to Curaçao, where he is scheduled to tour the naval base. The next day, Schoof will continue to Sint Maarten to be briefed on issues related to economic development, reconstruction efforts, and good governance.
Visits to Saba and Sint Eustatius are planned for May 13. On Saba, Schoof will review the progress of the harbor project and developments in St. Johns, where a new sports hall, a technical school, and an enrichment center are being constructed. On Sint Eustatius, he will take part in a tour focused on the "Statia 2026" development plan.
The visit will conclude on May 14 with inspections at the cruise terminal on Sint Maarten and reviews of various reconstruction projects launched after Hurricane Irma devastated the island in 2017.
