Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof to Make Lightning Visit to Curaçao and Aruba

THE HAGUE - Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof will make a brief working visit to Curaçao and Aruba on November 7 and 8, the Dutch government has confirmed. The details of the visit, including his official meetings and agenda topics, have not yet been disclosed.

The visit comes between two major international summits. On November 6 and 7, Schoof will attend the COP30 Climate Summit in Belém, Brazil, where world leaders will discuss global climate commitments and sustainable development.

Immediately after his Caribbean trip, the Prime Minister will travel to Santa Marta, Colombia, to participate in the European Union–Latin America Summit on November 9 and 10, where cooperation between Europe and Latin America will be on the agenda.

It remains unclear whom Schoof will meet during his visit to the islands or which key issues will be discussed. However, the trip is expected to focus on Kingdom relations, economic cooperation, and regional security, given the timing and context of his Latin American tour.

Schoof last visited Curaçao in May 2025 as part of an introductory visit to the Caribbean part of the Kingdom, during which he toured the naval base and held talks with Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas and members of Parliament.

The upcoming stop in Curaçao and Aruba underscores the continued importance of the Caribbean territories within the Kingdom and their strategic position in regional and international affairs.
