Dutch Ministry Satisfied with Cooperation on Land Packages, but Doubts Remain

Local | By Correspondent February 21, 2025

THE HAGUE – The Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK) expressed reasonable satisfaction with the cooperation between Curaçao, Aruba, and Sint Maarten in the implementation of the Land Packages (financial and investment package for each country).

Judith Jeurissen, program manager for the Temporary Work Organization (TWO), noted that there is now more collaboration, and positive results are visible, such as improvements in financial management and the tax authority, particularly on Sint Maarten.

However, members of the Dutch House of Representatives voiced concerns about the actual successes and risks of the reforms.

During a technical briefing, they called for greater clarity on the progress made. The Cabinet discussed the most sensitive topics behind closed doors.
