Dutch Media Highlight Growing Bee Problem on Curaçao After Fatal Attacks

WILLEMSTAD – Several Dutch news outlets are reporting on a recent wave of aggressive bee attacks on Curaçao, which have resulted in multiple deaths and injuries. Within the span of one week, a 62-year-old man lost his life following a bee attack. In separate incidents, a dog and a parrot also died due to similar encounters.

Prominent Dutch media platforms, including Eindhovens Dagblad, Reformatorisch Dagblad, AD.nl, and De Gelderlander, have covered the alarming situation, bringing international attention to the growing problem on the island.

Local police have issued warnings and safety guidelines to the public on how to deal with potential bee attacks. According to the reports, Curaçao’s Ministry of Health, Environment and Nature emphasized that “it is important to understand that bees only become aggressive when their nest is threatened.”

The government strongly advises residents not to disturb any bee nests they may encounter. Instead, people should calmly leave the area and avoid swatting at the bees or trying to remove them from their bodies.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation, and residents are being urged to report any sightings of bee nests in residential areas to prevent further incidents.
