WILLEMSTAD - A multidisciplinary team led by the Inspectorate of Economic Affairs conducted a raid yesterday at a diving school located at Boka Simon on Penstraat.
The school was operated by a retired ex-police officer from the Netherlands and did not have a permit. Additionally, illegal electricity was being tapped from his already unauthorized connection to his house.
Aqualectra was present during the inspection to take immediate action. All illegal power connections, both at the house and at the diving school, were removed, and a report was prepared. The fine for illegally tapping electricity is 1250 guilders.
Furthermore, several old cars were parked on public property that were no longer in use. It is prohibited to park non-functional old cars on public roads. The cars were removed at the expense of the owner of the diving school.
The diving school was operating illegally and not paying taxes. The Tax Accounts Bureau (BAB) was present to take action.
