Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard Showcases Career Opportunities at Fred Expo 2025 in Rotterdam

 

WILLEMSTAD - The Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard recently participated in the Fred Expo 2025 in Rotterdam, an annual event that brings together companies and organizations from Curaçao, Aruba, Bonaire, St. Maarten, Saba, and St. Eustatius. The goal of the expo is to inspire graduates and professionals living in the Netherlands to return home and contribute to the development of their communities and economies.

From the start to the end of the event, the Coast Guard’s booth attracted strong interest from visitors. Many students and professionals expressed enthusiasm about career opportunities within the Coast Guard, which currently has 11 vacancies available.

The 2025 Fred Expo took place on October 18 at the World Trade Center in downtown Rotterdam. The event ran from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., drawing more than 1,000 visitors eager to learn about potential employers and organizations from across the Dutch Caribbean.

The Coast Guard was represented by a delegation of four officers, who shared information about the organization’s mission, training programs, and career paths in maritime security, rescue operations, and border protection.

“The Fred Expo gives us a fantastic opportunity to connect with young talent from the region,” said Joëlle de Jong-Mercelina, Deputy Director of the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard. “It’s important for them to know that there are many opportunities to build a meaningful career while serving their community in the Caribbean.”

The Coast Guard’s participation highlighted its ongoing commitment to attracting skilled professionals and encouraging local talent to take part in strengthening security and safety across the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.
