DUO Opens Service Office in Curaçao

Local | By Correspondent February 18, 2025

WILLEMSTAD – The Dutch Education Executive Agency (DUO) is expanding its services in the Caribbean region with two new initiatives. This spring, the organization will open a service office in Curaçao and launch a pilot e-learning program for high school students. The goal is to better prepare future students for studying in the Netherlands and to provide better support for former students in repaying their student loans.

DUO has developed the e-learning program "Explore Your Future", designed to give students and their parents early insight into practical matters such as student financing, insurance, allowances, and housing. The pilot program will be offered at the request of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Curaçao to students in HAVO 4 and VWO 5 at Kolegio Alejandro Paula. If the trial is successful, the program may be expanded to more schools in the Caribbean region.

Additionally, DUO will open a service office in Curaçao, where prospective students, parents, and former students can visit without an appointment for questions about student financing and loan repayment. DUO staff will also visit schools to provide informational sessions. The office will remain open for at least one year as part of this initiative.
