WILLEMSTAD - Despite the installation of anti-drone nets at the Sentro di Detenshon i Korekshon Kòrsou (SDKK) late last year, drones attempting to smuggle drugs into the facility continue to be intercepted regularly. This was confirmed by a prison spokesperson.
The spokesperson stated that intercepting these drones, which often operate at night, has become routine. Recently, another drone carrying drugs was brought down, a now-common occurrence. Following each interception, an internal investigation is conducted within the prison, and a report is then sent to the police for criminal investigation.
The anti-drone nets currently cover only part of the prison, and additional methods are being explored to further prevent drone intrusions. The spokesperson was unable to provide further details.
The installation of the anti-drone nets was part of three projects at SDKK, alongside the opening of a new kitchen and the deployment of a scanner.
