WILLEMSTAD - A flamingo has recently fallen victim to a drone. The device crashed on a flamingo on the salt pans of Jan Kok, after which the bird died.

The person flying the drone was not there himself, but a neighbor saw that the group of flamingos wanted to flee, after which one was hit. Theo van der Giessen, director of the Unique Curaçao Foundation, says that incidents of this kind occur more often and therefore wants a ban on drones and quads in vulnerable areas.
