Discontent among livestock farmers over developments surrounding slaughterhouse

Local | By Correspondent August 8, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - Livestock farmers are dissatisfied with the situation at the slaughterhouse in Parera and the market in Barber, where meat can be sold. The KriaTur Cooperative has called an urgent meeting for Tuesday, August 13, inviting all members to attend. According to KriaTur Chairman Erick Curial, the government makes various promises in the agricultural sector, similar to those in the oil sector, but fails to adhere to agreements. He states that the service provided for slaughtering livestock has been very poor for a long time.

There has also been ongoing discontent regarding the situation at the Barber market, where fresh meat is sold every Sunday and attracts many customers. However, promised changes have not been implemented, according to the KriaTur chairman. He accuses the Veterinary Service of "dictatorial management." The meeting will take place at AVB (formerly LVV) in Klein Kwartier and will be held between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM.
