WILLEMSTAD - Roderick van Kwartel, the former director of the state-owned company Refineria di Korsou, calls his prosecution by the Public Prosecution Service (OM) “completely incomprehensible”.
His lawyer Mirtho Murray stated this in the corruption case which was treated by the court of first instance in Willemstad yesterday. Especially since two collaborators of Count Energy Trading were acquitted.
The Public Prosecution demands five-year prison sentence against Van Kwartel for bribery in the search of a new strategic partner for the refinery.
According to Van Kwartel's lawyer, there is not enough evidence for this.
