WILLEMSTAD – Dick Advocaat, the 77-year-old coach of the Curaçao national football team, has extended his contract until next summer, with an option for another year. The announcement was made yesterday, confirming that Advocaat, along with his technical staff, will continue to lead the team through July.
Advocaat’s staff includes his trusted assistant Cor Pot, team manager Kees Jansma, and team doctor Casper van Eijck. Advocaat has been the head coach of Curaçao since early last year, during which he managed the team through eight international matches. Under his leadership, Curaçao achieved an impressive record of six wins, one draw, and one loss, currently leading Group A in the Concacaf Nations League.
In the ongoing 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Curaçao won their first two matches, securing the top spot in their group. Advocaat’s primary goal is to lead the team to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
As part of the contract extension, Advocaat will also lead Curaçao in the upcoming Gold Cup scheduled from June 14 to July 6, 2025 in the United States.
