Dick Advocaat Extends Contract as Curaçao National Team Coach Until End of 2025

WILLEMSTAD – Dick Advocaat will remain head coach of the Curaçao national football team until the end of this calendar year, following a contract extension announced by the Curaçao Football Federation on Thursday afternoon.

The 77-year-old Dutch coach, whose contract was set to expire, has committed to continuing his mission of guiding Curaçao to its first-ever FIFA World Cup appearance in 2026, to be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. His entire technical staff has also had their contracts extended through December 2025.

“The World Cup mission isn’t finished yet,” said Advocaat, who sees a historic opportunity to make football history with the Caribbean island.

One Step Away from History

Curaçao has already made significant progress in its qualification campaign, having topped Group C in the second round to advance to the final stage of CONCACAF qualifiers. Starting in September, Curaçao will face Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Bermuda in a bid for a coveted World Cup spot.

The group winner will qualify directly for the World Cup, while the best-performing second-place team will have a chance to advance through a playoff round.

If Advocaat successfully leads Curaçao to World Cup qualification, he is expected to remain with the team through the 2026 tournament.

This extension underscores both Advocaat’s confidence in his squad and the Federation’s belief in his leadership as Curaçao aims to make football history on the world stage.
