Department of Traffic and Transport Urges Timely Renewal of Public Transport Permits

WILLEMSTAD The Department of Traffic and Transport (UOVV) is calling on all individuals working in public transport—such as bus and taxi drivers, and other forms of paid transportation—to renew their operating permits on time.

Anyone offering public transport services for payment must comply with public transportation laws. This includes holding a valid permit. Operating without one is considered illegal (clandestine), and in the event of an accident, passengers will not be covered by insurance. Therefore, the department reminds all drivers: renew your permit on time.

According to the UOVV, many permits have already expired or are close to expiration. It is essential that those with permits renew them promptly to avoid operating without valid documentation. Operating without a permit is a violation of the law and could lead to fines or suspension of your right to work.

Avoid Work Delays

The department emphasizes the importance of submitting your renewal request before your permit expires. Failure to do so may result in your application being treated as a new request, which can cause delays and potentially suspend your work activity temporarily.

How to Renew Your Permit

Permit renewals can be done digitally. Ensure that you have all the required documents prepared. All relevant information is available on the Ministry's website: www.vvrp.cw. You can also contact the department via WhatsApp at +599 9 527 8244.

The UOVV urges all transport operators to act now and stay compliant to avoid penalties and service interruptions.
