WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao will hold parliamentary elections on March 21. This means that all political parties will announce their candidate lists, present their election programs, and officially launch their campaigns this month. By January 23, all parties must submit their lists. After the official opening of the new party headquarters of Mihó Kòrsou on December 27, the Democratic Party becomes the first to officially launch its election campaign. The event will take place on Saturday, January 4, at Restaurant Primas in Landhuis Vredenberg. Recently, the Democratic Party appointed Daniel Hodge as its new chairman, who is likely to also become the political leader and head the candidate list.
Next week, it is expected that the MAN party will hold a press conference to present its election program. The party had planned to do so on December 17, but due to a parliamentary meeting about the "online gaming" law (LOK) on the same day, the event was postponed until early January 2025. The Partido Nashonal di Pueblo (PNP) is also expected to organize a party council and general assembly at the beginning of January to approve its candidate list. Party KEM has announced that it will present its list at the last minute, possibly one or two days before the deadline for submitting candidate lists to the Electoral Council. The top three candidates on the MFK party list are already known: Gilmar 'Pik' Pisas, Javier Silvania, and Charles Cooper. There is much speculation about the rest of the list, but it will only be announced after approval by the general assembly, which is scheduled for the week of January 13.
