WILLEMSTAD - The delivery of the new MRI scanner for the Curaçao Medical Center has been delayed.
The scanner was supposed to be delivered this month, but supplier Philips Medical Systems indicates that there are delivery problems with some parts. Delivery is now expected on January 3. This means that the CMC will not be able to use the new device until well into the first quarter of 2023.
The MRI scanner broke down early this year. By July, the waiting lists for scans had already risen to five to six months. As a result, diagnoses may not be made until later, with potentially adverse consequences for patients.
