WILLEMSTAD - Over the past two weeks, Defense has conducted two training sessions: Collegial Network and Mental Fitness. In addition to its own personnel and Curaçao military members, various security partners participated, including the Police Force, VKC, and Fire and ambulance personnel.

The two training sessions are crucial for promoting the mental health and resilience of professionals who regularly face challenging and potentially traumatic situations.
The purpose of the Collegial Network is to increase the discussability of mental health and make an early assessment of possible mental issues after experiencing potentially shocking events. This aims to provide accessible support to colleagues who find themselves in such situations due to their work.
The mental fitness training provides participants with practical tools to maintain mental resilience under pressure. This training stems from the needs of chain partners in Curaçao, who are daily confronted with various challenging situations within different security domains.
The training sessions took place at the Suffisant Naval Barracks and were enthusiastically received by the participants. Given the impact and demand, Defense aims to offer these training sessions regularly, expected to be twice a year.
Providing training to various security partners contributes to supporting professional development with the ultimate goal of improving safety in the Caribbean region.
