Dam Pretu Residents Raise Alarm Again Over Odor and Mosquitoes

Local | By Correspondent January 16, 2025

WILLEMSTAD - Residents of Dam Pretu have once again raised the alarm due to increased disturbances from odors and mosquitoes. Inees-Rosalia, a representative of the Pariba Residents' Association, reached out to the police regarding the situation. The police visited the area yesterday morning and discovered piles of waste, which attract pests, including flies and mosquitoes. The residents' association is upset with the Ministry of Health, Environment, and Nature. While there had previously been significant issues with waste being set on fire, those incidents had stopped. However, they disagree with the ministry now allowing a company to dump waste in the area.

The Pariba Residents' Association calls the situation unacceptable and demands an end to the illegal dumping of waste. In recent years, the area has frequently dealt with illegal waste disposal, often set on fire.
