WILLEMSTAD - In November, customs collected a record amount of almost fifteen million guilders in turnover tax on imports. The previous record dates from December 2021 with just over thirteen million guilders. Historically, the month of December has always been the month with the highest sales tax revenues from imports.
Despite this record, in total less tax was brought in than budgeted in November. That is the first time this year. A total of 83 million was received, while more than 84 million was budgeted. The main cause of the net lower revenues is that nearly NLG 16 million in tax was paid back in November.
Although the total tax revenue for the month of November is slightly lower than budgeted, the tax revenue for 2022 as a whole is still over 158 million guilders higher than budgeted and also considerably higher than the revenue for previous years.
