WILLEMSTAD - According to Yamil Lasten, at the moment Curoil purchases fuel on the international market, following a set of guidelines established by the government. The Curoil director spoke yesterday during a press conference at Fort Amsterdam.
Lasten explained the fuel procurement process. The director of Curoil stated that as a government company, they must adhere to a responsible diligence process. When there is a need for gasoline, Curoil issues a tender where suppliers can submit their bids. Curoil's internal department then evaluates which supplier has the best offer.
Furthermore, Lasten explained that there are management guidelines stipulated by the government regarding the quality of fuel in Curaçao, and Curoil must comply with these guidelines. The director of Curoil also discussed the SGS Inspire report. According to Lasten, there is a working group in place to establish new conditions regarding fuel quality. The director also mentioned that they are currently working with a working group to assess suppliers' ability to meet the conditions and recommendations outlined in the SGS Inspire report.
