WILLEMSTAD - For the first time in nearly ten years, Curaçao’s Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) has hired five new statistical researchers. This addition aims to enhance the organization's capacity to deliver more reliable and comprehensive research on economic, demographic, and societal developments.
A Boost for Policy Development
Minister of Governance, Planning, and Service (BPD), Shalten Hato (MFK), highlighted the significance of strengthening CBS for the island’s development. “This recruitment marks a key step toward a future where statistical research plays an even greater role in shaping policy,” the minister stated.
The hiring process focused on qualifications, professional experience, and technical expertise to ensure the new team members meet the demands of the bureau. “These new employees are a critical addition to CBS’s existing team,” added Hato.
Addressing Resource Challenges
The appointments are considered a milestone for the bureau, which has operated with limited capacity for years. With the expanded team, CBS aims to provide more in-depth and up-to-date insights critical for strategic decision-making on Curaçao.
This development is expected to bolster CBS’s ability to support informed policymaking and drive sustainable growth on the island.
