Curaçao’s Security Service to Implement Its Own Salary Structure

Local | By Correspondent March 20, 2025

WILLEMSTAD – Employees of the Curaçao Security Service (VDC) will soon have their own salary structure, aiming to eliminate disparities in pay and promotion opportunities between staff hired before and after October 10, 2010.

Since the establishment of the Curaçao Security Service on October 10, 2010, the agency’s responsibilities and powers have been defined by national legislation. However, no provisions were made at the time for a dedicated salary framework, leading to unequal pay scales, compensation, and career advancement prospects among employees.

Since 2018, the Minister of General Affairs, the Security Service, the Human Resources and Organization Department, and the Legislation and Legal Affairs Department have been working on implementing a separate salary system. This new structure takes into account the unique nature of the service and will ensure that all employees, regardless of their hiring date, have equal opportunities.
