WILLEMSTAD - The renovated visitor area of Sentro di Detenshon i Korekshon Kòrsou (SDKK), Curaçao's main correctional facility, was officially inaugurated on Monday, as announced by the Ministry of Justice. Alongside the new visitor space, a dedicated family room has been opened to support connections between inmates and their families, especially their children.

As part of the renovation, inmates contributed by creating murals to brighten the visitor area, while a child-friendly play corner called "Gobièrnitu" has been set up. The space now includes a vending machine for refreshments, and new benches have been installed to enhance visitor comfort.

According to the Ministry, the family room aims to foster meaningful interactions, allowing prisoners and their families to connect in a more inviting atmosphere, which is expected to be particularly beneficial for maintaining bonds with their children.
