VATICAN - Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas was welcomed by Pope Francis at the Vatican on Wednesday. Accompanied by Bishop Luis Secco of Willemstad and Pastor Curtis Meris, Pisas attended the meeting to discuss strengthening ties between the Curaçaoan government and the Catholic Church.

The primary focus of the discussions was on the development of Curaçao's people and ways in which the Church and the government can collaborate to achieve this goal.
In addition to meeting the Pope, Pisas held discussions with Cardinal Michael Czerny and Archbishop Paul Gallagher. The talks covered critical global issues, including poverty, climate change, and migration, emphasizing the importance of collective action.
This visit marks the second time a Curaçaoan prime minister has been received by a pope. Former Prime Minister Ben Whiteman had a similar meeting in 2015. The ongoing collaboration between Curaçao and the Vatican highlights the significance of these discussions in shaping future policies for the island's development.
