BOGOTÁ – A significant portion of Curaçao’s Catholic clergy is departing this week for Bogotá, Colombia, to participate in a spiritual retreat. According to the Catholic Church, the retreat aims to deepen the priests’ faith and provide spiritual nourishment, empowering them to continue their vocation with renewed vigor.
The retreat will run from March 31 to April 4 and will be led by Father Gerald McGlone, a priest from the Jesuit order.
Pastoral Care Maintained During Absence
With most priests away, the diocese has called for understanding and cooperation from the community. Church leadership assures that pastoral services on the island will continue: a number of priests will remain available to celebrate Mass and administer the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. In case of emergencies, parishioners may contact the diocese directly.
The Diocese of Willemstad has urged the faithful to support their spiritual leaders—not only during this retreat but beyond. The bishop emphasized the importance of prayers for the priests’ spiritual well-being as they seek renewal in their mission.
