WILLEMSTAD – In the new Parliament of Curaçao, the staffing allocation per faction will be adjusted. Currently, each faction is assigned two staff members, regardless of its size. However, the ruling party MFK has argued that larger factions should be entitled to more staff. This issue has gained urgency now that MFK holds 13 seats in Parliament.
Parliamentary Chair Charetti America-Francisca confirmed that the changes have been in development since 2024 and are nearly finalized. “Once the new Parliament is sworn in, each faction will receive staffing proportional to its number of members,” she stated.
The next parliamentary session is scheduled for the week of April 7, marking the first meeting since the March 21 elections. Additional sessions are planned for the week after Easter and the week of May 5. The new Parliament will be officially installed on May 11.
