WILLEMSTAD – While the European Union has announced a substantial increase in funding for Caribbean territories, Curaçao’s actual share remains uncertain as negotiations continue.
The €425 million budget will be distributed among Dutch and French overseas territories, but final allocations have yet to be determined.
This uncertainty leaves Curaçao in a position where expectations are high, but outcomes are still unclear. Access to funds will depend not only on political negotiations, but also on the island’s ability to submit viable projects and meet EU requirements.
For now, the increased funding represents an opportunity—but not a guarantee—of additional investment in Curaçao’s economic and social development.
