THE HAGUE - Curaçaoan Kenville Kleinmoedig has announced his candidacy for the European Parliament representing the GroenLinks/PvdA party. This was revealed by the party on Monday.

Kleinmoedig, a native of Curaçao, moved to the Netherlands for his bachelor's in business administration and master's in international and European Governance.

According to the candidate committee of GroenLinks/PvdA, Kleinmoedig is "a committed political activist and organizer. He is a strong advocate for and has a clear vision on involving the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom in European politics, and vice versa." There are not many Curaçaoans on the candidate lists of political parties in the Netherlands.

This marks the tenth direct election of the European Parliament and the first election since the United Kingdom exited the European Union. The European Parliament elections will take place from June 6 to June 9, with Kleinmoedig positioned at 18th place.
