WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao U-17 will face an important challenge on Friday when it takes on Cuba U-17 in the U-17 World Cup qualifying tournament. The match follows an intensive and convincing training session held on Thursday in Guatemala.
Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the Estadio Cementos Progreso. According to the technical staff, the Curaçao squad showed strong focus, high energy levels and good teamwork during the final preparations ahead of the match.
The encounter forms part of Group F of the U-17 qualifiers, which are being played in Guatemala City. It will be the first time Curaçao and Cuba meet in U-17 World Cup qualifying competition.
Historically, Curaçao has played five previous opening matches against Caribbean opponents at this level, recording two wins, one draw and two losses. Notably, the team is unbeaten in its last three opening matches, a run the squad will be looking to extend against Cuba.
The coaching staff expressed confidence that the team is well prepared and mentally ready, as Curaçao aims to make a strong start to its qualifying campaign.
