WILLEMSTAD – The Queen Emma Bridge and Hato International Airport are lit up in blue today as Curaçao joins the global observance of the World Day Against Human Trafficking. The initiative is supported by Curaçao Ports Authority and Curaçao Airport Partners, using blue lighting as the international symbol of solidarity with victims and the fight against human trafficking.
The awareness campaign is led by PATH—Preventie van Misbruik en Mensenhandel—Curaçao’s government body dedicated to the prevention of human trafficking and abuse. PATH operates under the Ministry of Justice and focuses on prevention, education, and protection for victims on the island.
Call for Public Support
PATH is calling on the Curaçao community to take part in raising awareness and supporting efforts to combat human trafficking. The organization works closely with local partners including the Public Prosecutor’s Office, police, Coast Guard, and the Ministry of Social Development, as well as with international agencies that assist in investigations, victim protection, and public education.
The blue-lit landmarks serve as a powerful visual reminder of the ongoing battle against one of the world's most pressing human rights issues.
