Curaçao to receive three new fire trucks in $7 million investment

Local | By Correspondent September 25, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao is set to acquire three new fire trucks, following the allocation of nearly 7 million guilders for the purchase. Fire Chief Jair Tromp handed over the official document to Minister of Justice Shalten Hato on Tuesday, who shared the news via his social media platforms.

The investment will provide the fire department with the necessary equipment to better serve the community. Hato announced that the government will immediately begin procuring the new trucks and will develop a new "coverage plan" to identify the best locations for fire stations on the island. This plan will consider new stations, particularly in the Pariba area.

Additionally, the fire department will undergo modernization and digitalization to improve efficiency. "The government continues to invest in Curaçao’s safety, with plans to automate the fire department and provide better support for its personnel," Hato stated.
