WILLEMSTAD – The Ministry of Health, Environment, and Nature has announced the purchase of 65 additional care beds to address shortages in home care resources. This decision, made in consultation with the Social Insurance Bank (SVB), aims to significantly reduce waiting lists and improve access to essential home care services.
The initiative follows discussions with home care organizations, including Stichting Wit Gele Kruis and Stichting Thuiszorg Banda Bou, where the urgency of the issue was highlighted.
The SVB has already placed the order, with delivery expected by the end of February. Once received, the beds will be distributed to clients of Wit Gele Kruis and Thuiszorg Banda Bou.
According to the ministry, this investment marks an important step toward enhancing care and the well-being of Curaçao’s elderly population.
The ministry has also outlined an action plan focused on improving the living conditions of seniors on the island. A key priority is addressing the shortage of home care resources, including beds that can be installed in private residences. The addition of these 65 beds represents significant progress in reducing wait times and strengthening home care services in Curaçao.
