WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao will reduce its aviation sector fees starting January 1, 2025, making air travel more accessible for passengers. The reduction targets three specific fees related to landing and parking charges, passenger facilities, and contributions to aviation safety. These changes aim to benefit both airlines and travelers, while also enhancing Curaçao's position as an international airport hub.
Below is an overview of the adjustments:
Landing and Parking Charges
The fees for landing and parking at Hato International Airport will be reduced. This measure is intended to ease operational costs for airlines, making it more attractive for carriers to operate flights to and from Curaçao. (Official Bulletin 2024, no. 124)
Passenger Facility Fees
Adjusted rates will be applied for the use of passenger facilities at Hato International Airport. This change is expected to lower costs for travelers departing from Curaçao, making the airport more competitive in terms of pricing. (Official Bulletin 2024, no. 125)
Aviation Safety Contribution
Fees collected from commercial passengers to fund aviation safety oversight will also be lowered. This contribution supports the enforcement of safe aviation operations and will now be reduced to ease the financial burden on travelers. (Official Bulletin 2024, no. 123)
These reductions are part of the government's efforts to enhance the overall experience for both airlines and passengers, fostering growth and positioning Curaçao as a key hub in the region's air travel network.
With this move, Curaçao emphasizes the importance of affordable and safe travel, demonstrating the island's commitment to becoming a more accessible aviation hub in the region.
