WILLEMSTAD – The Government of Curaçao proudly announces that it will host the Caribbean Climate & Energy Conference (CCEC) from May 26 to 28, 2025, in Willemstad. The high-level event will bring together ministers and senior representatives from Barbados, St. Maarten, Aruba, Grenada, Saint Lucia, El Salvador, the Maldives, and Bolivia.
The CCEC is jointly organized by the Governments of Curaçao and the Netherlands, and will include participation from Dutch Minister Sophie Hermans, responsible for Climate Policy and Green Growth. The primary goal of the conference is to strengthen regional cooperation in climate adaptation and the energy transition, with a focus on practical solutions, shared responsibilities, and mobilizing funding.
Under the theme “Shaping a Resilient Future: Regional Strategies for Climate Action,” the event aims to:
Develop a unified regional stance ahead of the COP30 climate summit;
Facilitate the exchange of knowledge on climate challenges and solutions;
Strengthen partnerships between Caribbean nations and international stakeholders.
Curaçao, as an island nation, is keenly aware of both the risks and opportunities presented by climate change. The country sees itself as a potential hub for innovation, sustainable energy development, and regional collaboration.
“Hosting the Caribbean Climate & Energy Conference highlights Curaçao’s strong commitment to sustainable development and regional unity,” stated Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas. “Our island, known for its rich culture and biodiversity, offers the ideal setting for leaders to come together and forge collective solutions to shared climate challenges.”
Topics on the agenda include the integration of renewable energy, climate resilience, financing sustainable infrastructure, and policy innovation. The conference will conclude with the signing of a joint declaration, outlining shared goals and formal commitments to climate action across the region.
