WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao’s interim Minister of Social Development, Labor, and Welfare (SOAW), Javier Silvania, has announced plans to adjust the income limit for the basic health insurance (BZV) premium, currently set at 12,000 guilders annually.
The decision comes in response to concerns that recipients of the general old-age insurance bonus (AOV bonus) could unintentionally exceed the income limit, thereby becoming obligated to pay the premium.
Silvania assured the public that an indexed adjustment will be implemented to prevent negative financial consequences for those affected.
Further details regarding the changes to the income threshold will be disclosed at a later date.
