Curaçao Tax Office Resumes Full Services After Cyberattack

WILLEMSTADAs of today, Monday, August 4, the Curaçao Tax Office has resumed its full range of services, following a major ransomware attack that disrupted operations for nearly two weeks. The announcement was made over the weekend by the Tax Office.

Services now available again include both customer support—at the front desk and via the call center—as well as all internal processes. However, the agency warns that technical difficulties may still occur as systems are fully restored.

The office at Regentesselaan had closed its doors on the afternoon of Thursday, July 24. The following day, Finance Minister Javier Silvania confirmed that the office’s digital system had been the target of a ransomware attack. Experts from the Netherlands were brought in to assist with the recovery. No further details about the breach or the attackers have been disclosed.

Starting today, the Tax Office is once again open to the public on weekdays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM.
