BOGOTA, WILLEMSTAD - The Minister of Social Development, Labor and Welfare, Mrs. Charetti America-Francisca, arrived today in Bogotá, Colombia, for an official working visit taking place from October 19 to 30, 2025. The delegation, composed of representatives from the Ministry of SOAW and Fundashon Kas Popular (FKP), aims to strengthen cooperation with Colombian institutions and government agencies recognized for their expertise in social housing, vocational training, and poverty alleviation.
During the visit, meetings are scheduled with Luis Felipe Henao, former Minister of Housing and representative of Lambda; Roberto Angulo, economist and expert on the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI); and representatives of SENA, Colombia’s national training institute. Discussions will focus on the development of dual education programs for the construction sector to promote knowledge exchange and enhance professional skills within Curaçao’s housing initiatives.
A key highlight of the program includes meetings with Mr. Lidio García Turbai, President of the Senate, and Mr. Julián David López Tenorio, President of the House of Representatives. These discussions will explore parliamentary involvement in Colombia’s national housing program Mi Casa Ya and the legislative frameworks that ensured its success—valuable insights for the further development of Curaçao’s own Mi Kas Awor program.
The delegation will also visit CAFAM, an institution specializing in social housing and subsidy programs, and CAMACOL, the Colombian construction federation led by former minister Guillermo Herrera.
The visit will conclude in Barranquilla, where meetings are planned with Deputy Mayor Ana María Aljure to discuss urban planning, permitting processes, and the potential establishment of direct air connections between Barranquilla and Curaçao, in coordination with Ministers Charles Cooper and Roderick Middelhof.
Through this working visit, Curaçao continues to strengthen its international partnerships and takes another important step in advancing the Mi Kas Awor program, focused on social progress, affordable housing, and sustainable economic growth.
