Curaçao Signs Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement with Mauritius

Local | By Correspondent February 6, 2025

WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao has reached an agreement with Mauritius on the text of a Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement. On Wednesday morning, Germaine Rekwest, the negotiator from the Ministry of Finance, signed the treaty in Port Louis on behalf of Minister Javier Silvania.

The signing follows negotiations between the two nations and is based on Curaçao's Fiscal Treaty Policy.

In the fall of 2023, Minister Silvania initiated exploratory talks during the International Monetary Fund (IMF) meeting in Morocco with a delegation from Mauritius. Subsequently, formal negotiations were launched to establish the tax treaty. The agreement aims to make economic activities in both countries more attractive, reducing the risk of double taxation for businesses and individuals operating in both regions.
