WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao’s labor market is showing clear signs of recovery. According to new figures released Tuesday by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), the number of job seekers on the island has dropped by nearly 4,000 in just two years.
The unemployment rate decreased significantly, falling from 13.1% in 2022 to 7.8% in 2024 – a 5.3 percentage point drop. At the same time, the number of employed persons increased by over 5,000, reflecting a growing labor force and improving economic conditions.
One of the most notable improvements was seen in youth unemployment, which declined from nearly 30% to 16.3%, a major gain for young people entering the workforce.
The CBS also announced it will soon release several additional publications based on the 2023 Census data, covering topics such as neighborhood profiles, housing, public health, and migration.
