WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao aims to gain insight into the positions of Aruba and St. Maarten regarding the upcoming Interparliamentary Kingdom Consultation (IPKO) during the next tripartite meeting scheduled for June 30. This was confirmed by Parliament President Fergino Brownbill.
The next IPKO is planned to take place in the Netherlands from September 26 to 29, but uncertainty remains due to the Dutch parliamentary elections set for October 29. So far, the Caribbean parliamentary presidents have not received official confirmation from The Hague about whether the IPKO will proceed as scheduled.
Key agenda items for the June 30 tripartite meeting include:
The continuation of previously discussed topics from earlier tripartite and IPKO sessions;
The dispute resolution mechanism within the Kingdom;
Plans for deeper regional cooperation;
And stronger collaboration between the standing parliamentary committees of Curaçao, Aruba, and St. Maarten.
Curaçao is hoping the tripartite dialogue will help align the three Caribbean countries’ strategies ahead of the possible IPKO session and strengthen coordination on Kingdom-wide legislative matters.
