Curaçao Replaces 2019 Immigration Policy with New Framework

| By Correspondent March 18, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao will officially replace its 2019 immigration policy framework with a new set of rules effective April 1, 2026.

The updated policy was introduced following ongoing evaluations that identified the limited validity of residence permits as a key bottleneck in the system.

Authorities stated that the new framework is designed to improve efficiency and ensure better application of immigration rules. While some earlier policy changes remain in effect, the new document formally replaces the previous guidelines introduced in 2019.

The government says the reform marks a significant step toward modernizing Curaçao’s immigration system.
