WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao lowers the profit tax for business owners from 22 to fifteen percent. The reduction applies to the first 500,000 guilders. This is reported by the Ministry of Finance. The measure took effect on January 1.
The reduction is especially beneficial for small companies, which incur too few costs. But companies in the Free Zone also benefit from the measure because they can now also sell their trade in Curaçao. Of course, at a profit tax rate of 15 and 22 percent. Profits from trade with other countries fall under a two percent rule.
With the amendment of the legislation that has yet to happen, the government hopes to create more employment.
The Pisas cabinet also intends to reduce the tax burden on individuals by adjusting the level of income and payroll taxes.
